Why there's no Tesla Cybertruck referral code in the UK
Searches for a "Cybertruck referral code UK" turn up surprisingly often, so it's worth answering properly rather than in the single line we give it elsewhere on this site. There is no UK Cybertruck referral — not because Tesla has chosen to exclude it from the referral scheme, but because there is no UK Cybertruck order to refer anyone to in the first place.
The short version
Cybertruck is not sold, homologated or road-legal in the UK or the wider EU. Tesla's UK configurator does not list it as an orderable model. Because the referral scheme only ever applies to a car you can actually order from Tesla in your market, there's nothing for a UK referral link to attach to.
Why, specifically — the regulatory reasons
UK and EU type-approval rules cover things Cybertruck's design doesn't meet in its US-market form: pedestrian-safety requirements around exterior sharp edges and rigid body panels, indicator (turn signal) colour rules that differ from US practice, and general crash and lighting regulations that a US-homologated vehicle isn't automatically certified against. These aren't Tesla-specific obstacles — any US vehicle not built or certified to UK/EU standards faces the same wall. Tesla has not brought Cybertruck through that certification process for the UK, and hasn't given a public timeline for doing so.
What about grey imports?
It's technically possible to personally import a US-spec Cybertruck into the UK through an individual vehicle approval (IVA) route, and a small number have been brought in this way. It is not straightforward or cheap: on top of the US purchase price, expect shipping, UK import VAT at the standard rate, import duty, and likely physical modifications to satisfy IVA testing — plus the loss of Tesla's UK manufacturer warranty and service network support that a normal UK order gets. None of this involves a referral of any kind. Tesla's referral programme is tied to an official Tesla order in your home market; a privately imported, individually-approved vehicle was never a Tesla UK order to begin with, so no referral link, code, or benefit applies to it at any stage. Registering it also means DVLA paperwork most UK Tesla buyers never see, and insurers typically price a one-off imported Cybertruck differently from a standard UK-market Tesla — get quotes before you commit, not after the vehicle lands.
Does a Cybertruck import affect a Model 3 or Model Y referral?
No — the two are entirely separate. If you already own a privately imported Cybertruck and later order a Model 3 or Model Y directly from Tesla UK, that new order is a normal UK Tesla purchase and qualifies for the standard referral benefit exactly like any other buyer's. Owning a vehicle Tesla didn't sell you in this market has no bearing on an order you do place through Tesla UK.
If you were hoping for the benefit Cybertruck owners get in the US
US and Canadian Cybertruck referrals earn the same kind of credits as other Tesla referrals in those markets. There is no UK equivalent to redirect you to, because there is no UK Cybertruck programme at all — not a smaller one, not a delayed one, none.
