Do you get free FSD with a UK Tesla referral? (No — here's what you actually get)
This myth is imported straight from US pages: "refer a friend, get three months of free Full Self-Driving." It's simply not the UK deal.
Why not in the UK?
FSD (Supervised) isn't road-legal in the UK yet — it's under regulatory review (VCA), with approval not expected before late 2026/2027. So there's no FSD trial to give away here.

Where UK approval actually stands, as at 31 August 2026
"Coming soon" is doing a lot of work on most pages. Here is the specific position, with the dates that can be checked rather than a vibe.

That fourth row is the one worth acting on if you care about this: the consultation is open now and closes in days. It is the nearest thing to a checkable milestone in the whole timeline, and it is a better signal of progress than any "FSD is coming to the UK" headline.
Why "free FSD with a UK referral" can't be true yet
The claim fails on simple logic before you get to program terms. Tesla cannot give you a trial of a feature that is not approved for public use in your market — there is nothing to switch on. So a UK page promising three months of free FSD is not describing an optimistic reading of the rules; it has copied a North American page without changing the market.
The same test catches the rest of that page's claims. If it offers you a US dollar figure for the referrer, or lists Model S and Model X as eligible, or mentions the Cybertruck, it was not written for a British buyer.
Two things must happen, not one
This is the part almost everyone will get wrong when approval does land, and it is worth understanding in advance so you are not misled twice.
- FSD (Supervised) has to be approved for use in Great Britain. That is the regulatory step everyone is watching.
- Tesla then has to choose to attach a free trial to the UK referral programme. That is a commercial decision, entirely separate, and it does not follow automatically from approval.
Europe already shows the two can come apart. FSD became purchasable in several European markets following the Dutch approval without the referral benefit there switching from charging credit to an FSD trial. Approval makes the feature available to buy; it says nothing about what a referral gives away.
So expect a wave of UK pages to flip from "no free FSD" to "3 months free FSD" the moment approval is announced, on the assumption that step two came with step one. When that happens, the check is the same as it always is: does the referral line in your own order summary say so?
What a UK buyer gets in the meantime
Charging credit, not software — around 650 free Supercharging miles on a new Model 3 or Model Y. It is a smaller headline than an FSD trial and a more certain one: every mile displaces electricity you were going to buy regardless, where a software trial is only worth its sticker price to someone who would have subscribed anyway.
