Before touching the Tesla configurator, our illustrative buyer opens a UK referral link on their phone. Nothing is configured yet — this step only takes a few seconds, but it has to happen first.
Same day — choosing a trim
Still inside that session, they compare Rear-Wheel Drive against Long Range, checking range and price on the live configurator, and settle on Long Range for the extra range on longer trips.
Friday 17 July 2026 — confirming the order summary
Two days later, before entering payment details, they scroll the order summary line by line. A referral benefit line reading "650 free Supercharging miles" appears above the total — the confirmation that the link applied correctly. If it hadn't appeared, the right move would be to stop, reopen the referral link, and restart the configuration before paying.
Same day — placing the order

Tesla adds the Supercharging miles to the buyer's account after the car is delivered, not at the point of order. At current UK Supercharging pricing and typical Model 3 efficiency, 650 miles works out to somewhere in the region of £70–£100 of real charging — the exact figure moves with the site you charge at and the time you charge, so it's worth treating as a range rather than a fixed number.
What this example does and doesn't tell you
It shows the sequence that matters — link first, trim decision in between, order summary check before paying — and roughly what the reward is worth. It doesn't replace checking your own order summary, and it isn't a guarantee of an exact £ figure: Tesla doesn't publish a cash value for the miles, and Supercharging prices move. Where the wider 2026 incentives stood
